What you’re looking at: the real plan I teach AP Macroeconomics from this year. AI drafted it, and I checked it against the school calendar. Folder paths are removed; everything else is as I use it.
The whole year, planned backward from two facts: the exam is Friday, May 7, and the seniors don’t come back after it. All six units close by March 30. Review runs March 31 to April 15, the Pesach break carries a packet, May 3 to 6 is polish, and grades wrap by May 6. Eleven micro lessons sit in three short blocks, each next to the macro topics it connects to.
★ AP Macroeconomics Exam: Friday, May 7, 2027afternoon · 60 MCQ / 70 min + 3 FRQ / 60 minBlock widths match the number of class meetings, so you can see how much of the year each unit takes. The pink blocks are the micro lessons. Hover a block for its dates.
Units 3, 4 and 5 carry 55 to 80% of the exam and own the November to March core. The school midterm doubles as a Units 1 to 4 mock.
Scarcity, the PPC, comparative advantage, supply and demand. Price ceilings and floors (M1) come right after 1.6 and are on the test. Review Oct 8, test Monday Oct 12.
GDP, unemployment, CPI and inflation, real vs nominal, the business cycle. Candy Price Inflation and M&Ms Unemployment slot here. About 16 to 20% of exam MCQs are calculations, so the review day is also a calc gauntlet.
The biggest block: AD, multipliers, SRAS and LRAS, equilibrium and gaps, shocks, self-adjustment, fiscal policy, stabilizers. The December micro lessons sit right before 3.9 and the “Who should pay?” debate. The test splits into an MCQ day and an FRQ day.
Financial assets (the personal-finance weave lives here), Fisher, money, banking, the money market, monetary policy, loanable funds. The 4.6 deck gets its ample reserves update (IORB and the reserve market graph) before Jan 4. The midterm window becomes a Units 1 to 4 mock.
Heaviest exam weight: Phillips curve, quantity theory, deficits and debt, crowding out, growth. One lesson deck per topic (5.1 to 5.7). FOMC for a Day and the MV=PQ game land here.
Balance of payments, exchange rates, FOREX graphs, policy chains, capital flows. One lesson deck per topic (6.1 to 6.6). The test also has 2 tariff questions from M5.
Supply and demand toolkit right after Unit 1 (Oct 7, Oct 13–20), government and inequality inside Unit 3 (Dec 3–7), competition between Units 5 and 6 (Mar 4–9).
Unit-by-unit review, a full mock (two MCQ halves and two FRQ days), mock item analysis, and the Pesach packet launch on Apr 15.
Ten tasks of about 30 minutes keep retrieval going over the break. May 3 to 6: packet triage, FRQ dress rehearsal, top-20 MCQ traps, then a formula and graph day. Micro volunteers test May 4 PM.
Three short blocks instead of one long detour. Each block sits where it connects to the macro units, and the October lessons stay together because each one uses the one before it.
Each lesson uses the one before it: surplus is the tool, elasticity decides who pays a tax, and a tariff is a tax on imports. Supply and demand is fresh from Unit 1.
The next two days use the same ideas: 3.9 automatic stabilizers (Dec 8) and the “Who should pay?” debate (Dec 9).
Right after the Unit 5 test and before Unit 6 starts, so the macro sequence isn’t interrupted.
Spaced review keeps them alive: micro questions come back on the Unit 2 test (Nov 9), the Unit 3 test (Dec 15) and the Unit 6 test (Mar 30). They are already written, on hidden slides at the end of M2 to M8 and M11.
Every meeting in the day-by-day map has a colored dot for what happens if you’re out that day. Seven sub kits, built from materials already in the course files, let a green or yellow day run without you.
Green days that can absorb a sick day: U1: 5 · U2: 1 · U3: 5 · U4: 6 · U5: 7 · U6: 4 · Micro: 1 · Review: 4 · Final sprint: 0.
Unit 2 is now the thin spot. With the October micro block it has one green day (Nov 5), so a sick day there means moving a lesson. May 3 to 6 has none.
Print deadlines: Kits 1 to 3 by Sep 15, Kits 4 and 5 by Dec 15 (flu season is the Unit 4 window), Kits 6 and 7 by Feb 15. If you take one by choice, the cheapest days are after May 7, then the green game days (Dec 9, Feb 10, Feb 24, Mar 22, Mar 29).
All 114 meetings, each with a sick-day dot. Under each class plan: the slides, handouts, Arcade game and AP Classroom items for that day.
